Finally picked up my (Sam's old) '87 CBR600 from Mum's place.

First thing done was a washdown to remove the crud and dust from a year+ of being laid up in the garage (Norfolk garage, not a clean spotless one..)
Then it was the checkover for faults and problems.. and oh my did i find some.. In no particular order..
1. Brakes need full strip n overhaul
2. Cooling system has developed a leak from the cylinder head outlets - only a seal problem. Theyre on order from Ling's of Harleston
3. Battery fekked - Wemoto supplying those along with a set of plugs while i'm at it
4. Exhaust needs derusting and the can changing (standard fitted.. no drama but I have a Renegade bought specifically for it to return it to how Dad's original CBR was - The one he flung through a sign and into a Ditch in Leicestershire a few years back)
5. Fuel tank is completely fekked on the seam, lefthand side. Only option is a replacement tank courtesy of Evilbay

Planned future developments..

New Seat cover as the one on it is perished/dried out to the point of being past it
New Screen as the one on it is no longer see thru...
New grips,, again weather and age damaged
Full Respray after repairing the lugs on the panels. Agreed with Dad to paint it flat white with Marco Simoncelli race decals. Already purchased so just waiting for a chance to go up to Nott'm/Leics for my big brothers to respray.

After that, full service (Mike Bavin in Diss, the only guy my Dad trusted with his Hondas) MOT and tax and finally get it back on the road

Aye.. you know it's going to be good when it's done when yer mum drops you a 250 quid cheque towards doing it up!! She knows how much the bike meant to my Dad and now to me and for the first time in her life she has taken a genuine interest in a motorcycle.

Hopefully it will look something like this when it's done.. although it's a 1987 CBR.. so it wont be exactly the same ripsnorting beast as seen on the pic. Squint a bit..

If anyone knows people who make race fairings for the jellymould CBRs.. gimme a shout!
