New K&N Filter - question

Just ordered a K&N air filter. My first one and just wondering whether they come already oiled/primed, or do I need to order a service kit too and prime it the first time I fit it?

Exactly as Pete says, I ordered the service kit at the same time, but the first filter is primed.

Thanks Pete, that was quick.
Next question then...... is it ok to use genuine jubilee clips on the hose that feeds the smaller (cleanable) oil filter or do people fit the once only clips and invest in the necessary crimping tool?

buy quality jubilee clips

better than the once only ones imho

In my view you should be fine with small jubilee clips.

I love it when you all agree

If you want further agreement, I've just seen this quote from Andy in a different thread.

Dunno which clips are "best" clips - I tend to use jubilees as
  • 1) they are more readily available
    2) although I'm certainly no royalist, surely anything other would be highly inappropriate this year?

Priceless, who could argue with that!

Got the pressure switch fitted, plugs and filters changed and new oil and took her for a long blast to Whitby last night.
Conditions were perfect cool summer air and quite roads. I'm not sure how much of a difference to expect form the K&N filter but whether it was that, or the cool dense air conditions, or the fact that it was a summer and the roads were quiet, and my head was in a good place, but....

.. she absolutely flew. Acceleration between 6k and 8k rpm felt so strong, smooth and responsive.

Happy days :smt001

K&N gives between 2 and 3 bhp

it does help the engine to breathe more easily though - Hanna's currently has a K&N... note the word currently :)
