A snapped screw slammed the anchors on harder than was expected. The air was more than a little blue!
However..
The cylinder head is now assembled.

New guides, new valves and new inlet valve seats. Bloody expensive game this!

Top end is now complete. Due to a snapped screw and subsequent faffage, little else was done today.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

A friend of mine popped round today to aid with the valve timing. He races a 'pre-unit' version of my bike and knows the figures by heart. The books I've got are confusing to say the least.. Some are just plain vague, but now I've seen how to do it properly, it's as easy as baking bread.
Brand new oil pump also fitted.

Timing chest cover is on along with the fancy new ignition module. And the gearbox outer cover to finish today off with.

Have started putting the primary side back together, but there are a couple of minor niggles to sort out before hand. Wiring up tomorrow evening now with the hope of being able to fire up mid-weed. Fingers crossed!

All in good time.
Progress is being made, but it's mostly wiring and other menial jobs. We now have a horn, a headlight, the ignition is timed up and the control cables are in place. All being well, I should be able to fire the old girl up tomorrow evening. I'll be making sure someone is taking a video of that moment.. I just hope she behaves..

Again with the hold backs, it got too late to fire her up. She's ready, willing and by all hope able.
Primary side is on, thus meaning I can kick her over. Which I did. Let's just say it's a nice tight motor! New alternator too, just to be sure. A bit of fettling to do with tidy the wiring up, but not long now.

Congratulations, and well done, mate. You must be feeling deservedly pleased with yourself. Love the burble - came over a bit nostalgic.
BTW, like the H & S feature - fag in one hand, fire extinguisher in the other
