Clump the dodgy carb with a rubber mattet or lump of wood in the float bowl area, may clear the float valve of crud.
Try putting your hand over the carb mouth as it is running, this will sometimes clear other jets when crudded up (ming your hand)
See if carb cleaner sprayed in just that carb allows it to run on 4...then you know its fuelling.

quick thought
are the rubbers around the carbs knackered? if there is air getting in there then they will not run.... try putting a coat of vaseline or other sealant around the dodgy one just in case...

In a prev existence used to buy spark plugs by the gross. It is surprising what proportion of the top brands were faulty.

Alasinsane....that is complete arse, why give advice if you know nothing? Leaking vacuum will cause bad running but not cold headers. You could cost this man money by listening to your advice.

i really don't give a flying fuck if he is the queen of sheba
what he said was harsh and uncalled for - I will bow to his superior knowledge and I do not mind doing so - but talking to people like that, especially people he doesn't know per se, is plain wrong
yes, people make mistakes, but if people are trying to help/think about a problem then "nay saying" them in a brutal fashion is counter productive in the long run - ie, people stop even wanting to help/try to think or what ever

Then please, educate us rather than venting
Although, I'm pretty sure a tub of vaseline isn't that expensive...
