Yes .... and that Ron Haslam kept falling off as he'd ground out the front swingarm on corners .....
There were a number of different hub centre designs at that time - deFazio and Tony Foale both experimented,

so
new set of conti road attack 2's fitted today, and forks dropped off for a service
(150 quid I thought was reasonable...... I did not go with MC technics either - not sure why but i got the impression that it would be the apprentice doing the work there as Darren is quite busy... and being tight, why pay premium prices when the premium chap is not doing the work....)
so
now waiting on a couple of packages to be delivered, and then we start the rebuild :)
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

So far, rear wheel out, rear swing arm out, exhaust and mid section out, belly pan off, front end suspended - ready for front wheel to be removed, fork service booked.....
So - what's coming - new swing arm, new bars, new sat nav and a few other bits......
There is a rumour that I have been cleaning bits as well......
If its the same DUD bike I saw 2 or 3 years ago with drilled out mini silencer and a cow field attached you must have changed sex
BTW did you use nut/thread breakers to get the relevant bolts undone?
FFS you're a nurse live up to the moniker (

This thread's title - 'And so, it starts' - is a trifle optimistic, don't you think? This is Pete's slow black bike* we're talking about

wandered into the local bike stealers today and lucked onto a bargain
they were selling off LED resistor sets for £2.54 a pair - even if i do not use them, i acquired a couple of sets just in case.....
and some new parts arrived today from the griffmeister....
and the new swing arm is on its way.... yes, i may be a fat slow bastard but, the bike is having the swing arm off a uk champions bike....
I will have to paint it black to make it even faster!

I see the high standard of piss taking is maintained.....
So high, the hobbit cannot reach
