:smt017 Well I said I would be back with the latest on the bike saga, and here is the latest, I got a set of carbs off e bay and decided I would do a swop with the ones that were on as the coils and plugs turned out to be o.k. Out with the workshop manual and, well you know the rest, after much cursing and swearing I eventually took it all apart and managed to get it back together again, found out that no.2 carb on the old set was knackered and that someone had completely cocked up the throttle and choke cable set up, anyway in with the ignition key and press the button AND hey presto she fired up on all four pots But now! what is that bloody knocking/rattle down there, quick study of the manual and it looks like (fingers crossed) timing chains are a bit sloppy So having fiddled about with them its better but not a hundred per cent, I think that possibly the adjusters are either seized ar the chains have stretched, however she is looking good and with a bit more work we will be laughing. Thanks to all for advice and looking in, p.s. by the way if of any interest I have found a guy locally (Scarborough) who is spot on for bodywork ie doing up fairings/spraying ect at very reasonable price and he does a damn good job. :smt003

Deffo worth renewing the camchains. It sounds like it's suffered during it's life.

:smt017 You right there Kwackerz, I got the bike from a bloke in Harrogate he was a total moron when it came to describing the bike in his ad or he lived in a fantasy world thinking he was a biker. :smt019 I*ll have the last laugh tho as I have already had a good offer on the bike which will put me in profit. :smt003

What price a stomach ulcer?

I'm glad you've got it all sorted, I once had a Pan Euro that cost me 2.5K in a year cos the numpty before me didn't look after it.

There used to be a company that replaced camchains in situ...so no need to split the cases.
Done with a split link.
Mebbe worth checking?

Don't try splitting the chain and joining the new to the old with a piece of wire and running it through. :smt009 Seemed like a good idea at the time, but best left to the pro's
