Paint for Falcos

#1 Post by Tonyunn » Thu Nov 27, 2014 11:42 am

Has anyone managed to buy paint for their Falco that is a match for their bike.

I am thinking of re-spraying the belly pan on the bike as it is marked and could do with a re-fresh, my options are DIY or take it to a body shop.

there are some after market paint dealers who will make a matching rattle can.....

no official colours have ever been released

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Mangocrazy had his blue falco painted by my painter.

My painter had to take one of the parts to a paint supplier who scanned the paint to get an exact match.

I could take your parts to him for the painting to be done?

An option if you need it.
Tolerance will be our undoing.

I had to buy a seat cowel as mine didn't come with one. Needed that resprayed, took the bike to a paint supplier whom colour matched it to Shadow Nero. They mixed me up 1litre there and then and it's absolutely spot on. I can't remember the name of the place now but it was in Birmingham somewhere. I'd recommend doing the same.

As Blinkey says, his paint sprayer chappie did an absolutely spot on job with my blue Falco. If I ever need anything spraying again, it's going to Jason.

I have used RS bike paints before for other bikes.

www.rsbikepaint.com

Looking at the website, they have the falco and all its colour schemes listed as available in rattlecans.

So I would question that no official colours have been released ever. Or maybe they have just taken time to colour match every colour option that was available...

Anyway, worth giving them a try if you plan to DIY.
These are not the Droids you're looking for...

Cheers for that, £60 for me to do it, I think I might get a price and compare, if a body shop does it for anywhere just north of that I would probably let them do it as the results would be better.

Surely you could get someone to paint a belly pan for less than £60. Especially if you did the prep work yourself.

Went to see a sprayer and he sent me to a paint supplier to see if he could match the colour, I left the tail hump with him and I am now waiting for a call.

I did go to a shop on the hill to see how much for the job to be done £75 minimum.

So at this point I have no idea what this going to cost to complete.

Life would be simpler if Aprilia had released their paint codes.

I got the paint this morning, £20 for half a litre and have taken it to the painter to have the belly pan sprayed.
They are also going to do some minor repairs on it all in for £50 so at £70 for the whole job I am really pleased.

As for the colour the guy said the nearest match for Speed blue was a Mazda colour called Aurora blue.

The guy has been looking for a week to source this for me and he was really canny to deal with so I thought I should give him a mention, probably not much use for the majority of you but there are a couple of hardy northern types who read these pages.

Once I get the pan back and fitted I will post another picture.

Got the belly pan back today and it looks great.
I will put the decals on and see how it looks back on the bike.
