Yes, there is serious investigation into the establishment of a global series of street circuit road races.

I love street circuit racing but if this comes off, I just hope that we don't loose a lot of the participants each season (well I hope we don't loose any of them TBH).

I know a good route around Coventry.. The local GP circuit (ring road) would be a good start.. But there are a few gooduns.. Nothing to rival IoM, but non-to-shabby either.

Sounds fantastic! I hope it goes ahead (if only so we can get a few of our potholes filled in!).

Bring it on...............it would be fantastic. A full series of mini TT's would be absolutely great.

Road racing is the pinnacle (IMHO) and although I adore the short circuit stuff its the roads where the "real" racing is done!

Of course it all depends upon the "streets" they may consider using

There have been enough calls to do away with the IOM over the years. I only think the NW200 gets away with it because it gets hidden by the pre IOM frenzy.

IIRC the race rider tally at the IOM is about 2 deaths per year (might be out of date) but the non racer tally is much higher and I can just imagine how those figures will be used against new events. Clearly every motorcycle accident therefater would be as a direct result of riders attempting to emulate the street racer.

There's a circuit in Asia can't recall where now, but it's completely surrounded by huge fences so not great for the spectator.

When I was a boy I used to go to Ingliston race track (on the outskirts of Edinburgh) with my dad and uncle, but they stopped bike racing there due to the lack of run off and big fuck off trees near the track and that was in the early 70's.

Still like to see it happen though, but I won't hold my breath

They're still racing round the trees in the park at Aberdare!

Globally? I think the problem is proving the marshalling is up to standard where you stray away from areas that have run MotoGPs and the like.

I remember when the M25 was first completed....

that was an entertaining night - no idea how many bikes took part but it was very busy - and the track marshalls just seemed to be letting it happen.... I do not recall seeing any of them using their blue hazard lights at all

So what's the lap record these days?

We are working on this idea at the moment. The TT World Series is just an idea, currently, that we are trying to develop into something real. The early indications are that there is some interest in a number of locations around the world. The question will be whether we can convert this interest into a linked sries of road races that do justice to the TT brand. Of course, safety will be a factor and some work will need to be done to ensure that reasonable precautions are taken whilst still retaining the excitement and appeal of road racing. Its a big task, but we think it is an idea worth pursuing. Watch this space, but don't hold your breath, just yet.
