this winter is my first not riding... and whilst its not always all that fun, i think its important to ride in less-than-perfect weather to keep your skill sharp...

BUT!

I don't want to ride my beloved falco in the shitty weather and have been thinking about getting a cheap bike for the winter. I don't have a large budget (750 max) but would like to get something...

suggestions?

i was thinking something fun i could take green laning... suzuki drz... but they dont seem too cheap?

Scrambles/Trials/Enduro bikes bike have always commanded quite a high price. Winter hack you need something quite light with plenty of low down grunt, which is where the bigger singles come in to their own. High end power is no good in the ice! I'd steer clear of in-line 4's because of this.

The Honda NTV 650's are good winter bikes. Small, light and nimble.. Can keep up with the traffic and have little to no plastics to smash when you drop it (and you will probably drop it..lol..). And still a V-Twin!

Most of them will be ex-fleet bikes, but don't let that put you off.. There are plenty of gooduns. Things to look for are the usual crap Honda gearbox problems (jumping out of 1st etc), and they tend to suffer with crap fork stanchions which results in the seals blowing quite regular.. But fit gaiters and you'll never know..lol..

At this time of the year it's a buyers market, so don't be afraid to haggle. As with anything, you've set yourself a budget. Don't go over it and you'll be a happy bunny.
