Getting done for speeding in France

Some advice please

I'm off on a day rideout in France on Saturday.

Looking forward to giving the bike some proper welly.

But, how does it work out there if you get nicked?

From past memory of driving commercial vehicles it's a stop and on the spot fine but my van wouldn't do half the speed the Falco can do.

Is it a fine, if so what's the scale for certain speeds?

Does it affect your UK licence, insurance?

Can I go to jail???

Your comments much appreciated as always.

Cheers

Simon

Just came back from France. On our last day we were flying along the toll road to Calais when several cars coming the other way flashed us.
We slowed to the limit and as we passed a large direction sign on our right saw a police speed trap hiding behind it.
At the toll booths a couple of miles up the road we got talking to another group of lads on bikes. They said this is a common tactic. The ones on the trap radio to someone further down the road- in this case to a hut next to the toll booths. Sure enough, as we were speaking, half a dozen polis tumbled out and stood, each next to one of the toll booths and stopped a British registered pickup as it came through. They directed it to the layby and spoke to the driver for five minutes or so. He paused as he came past and told us he'd been fined an on the spot 90Euros which he was on the way to collect from a cashpoint. They'd kept his passport to make sure he'd return. No penalty points are collected.

Can't they confiscate your bike in France if you are caught doing very silly speeds.

Pretty sure I read that somewhere

EDIT:
Ah, this may help:

Not any more - not sure if it'e started yet but we're going to be able to track the ones from Europe and fine them.
