on my J reg D-modell ZZR 600. When i start the bike and selet first gear and release the clutch the engine cuts out as if the kick stand is down. Has anyone got any advise regarding this problem.

NB, WD40 and an attmept to bypass the switch has not worked, has anyone got any other ideas? Please i'm extremel;y stuck with this one.

Well I would start by looking at the sidestand switch. Sounds as if the bike thinks the stand is down even when it is not? Check the switch to see if it's sticky or broken. Perhaps bypassing the switch to eliminate it from your enquiries.

Sounds very much like the Sidestand Cutout to me too. Fausto pretty much hit it on the head. Bypass it in order to find it to be the problem or not. If you keep it bypassed, Dont forget to a. secure the wires well and b. Dont forget it is bypassed when starting it up

loads of WD40 on the sidestand switch, work it in with a paint brush, more Wd40 - and try again
Often gets road clag in it this time of year

It's not clutch drag is it? I've seen some Kwakas do the same thing when cold.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Sadly using WD40 has not worked nor has by passing the switch. I have limited amount of mechanical knowledge, any more ideas guys?

Any luck with getting this sorted out?

A quick fix untill you find the problem
Bypass the clutch switch. It will be one of the two options below.
1 It needs to be connected
2 It needs to be disconnected
One of them will sort it for now
