GB/EU sticker ?

#1 Post by DavShill » Wed Jun 04, 2008 7:00 pm

Going abroad next month and just wondering about the GB/EU sticker question. After fitting the tail tidy and smaller plate there is nowhere to put one. Dya think I'd get away with sticking on the panniers/tailpack?

Or do you experienced travellers not bother at all?

One time I had a GB sticker that kept falling off my luggage so ended up being held on by tape. Got 'inspected' by the Gendarmes but no problems.

Next time I bought a numberplate with the blue EU/GB emblem on it and once again was 'inspected' and passed.

As I understand it you don't need a GB sticker if you have a EU numberplate.

My plate is 7 x 5 (officially a show plate) which still fits nicely on the tail tidy AND has the EU badge. Plenty on Ebay.

In fact I have 3 numberplates :smt009

One is the official MOT one complete with reflector.
One is 7 x 5 and all yellow.
One is my Euro going abroad plate.

Mister organised me ! :smt003

I've toured with a sticker on my panniers. Didn't have any probs.
Last time I bought a small blue GB sticker for my plate

Never bothered, never been stopped. Pretty bloody obvious from the style of the plate it's from the UK. :smt019

Thanks chaps - think I'll go for the sticker on the tailpack approach.

I don't do GB or EU stickers. :smt013

But a discreetly placed saltire doesn't go a miss. :smt002

I think they are primitive symbols found on totem poles mostly north of the border. :smt003
