Puncture

Well it had to happen one day but I got my first puncture the other day.

The good bits.....

It was near the end of a great early morning ride on which I was making sure I utilised the full width of the rear tyre :smt003

I'm in the AA.

They only took 45 mins.

A couple of bikers stopped..... and an Audi !! (Life's full of suprises)

Oh, and I noticed the change in handling as the tyre went down. Not such a wooden arse as I thought I might be..... perhaps.

The bad bits....

It was bloody hot and I ended up trying to lie down in the meagre shade of a small hedge whilst waiting my AA man.

It was a big cut - probably a flint.

AA man tried slime to start with (bit silly really) but had to plug it to repair.

The tyre is trashed - after only 2500 miles.

Lots of bikes just went sailing right by....

What I learned.......

It's lots easier to do a roadside repair with one of those plugs than I had imagined. I may start carrying one around.
I was kicking myself for not having used Ultraseal this time round but once I saw the slime pouring out of the hole I doubt that Ultraseal would have done any good.
A new Conti Road Attack is £105 fitted - gulp. But seeing the new one I feel I was nearer the natural end of the old one than I had at first thought.
Still waiting to find out how long they last then :smt017
