That was 2005 or 2006 news I think? Seem to remember talk of it when I was down at the Navy place I visited the other year. They had Pan Euros down there in support of the Naval Fleet Review.
In support as being on traffic duties
on the land.

Stop typing, Gio.

Thats a lot of dosh to pay for a bunch of Hondas tho'
Surely they'd have been better off with a fleet of GS BMWs

Must admit I missed the date on that second link, but the story had bypassed me.
Was there any general recall or was it specific to polis spec bikes?

I remember various forces reporting problems with them and saying there was a need to change back to older machines or the BMWs, cant have bike bobbies flipping off their steeds to the amusement of the populace can we?

It was specific to police bikes and the extra equipment that was fitted.

Here in Oz, the police ST1300s are loaded up with lots of crap. So much so that Honda says "Don't do more than 130 km/hr ".
Which means you theoretically can outrun them. If you could find a street empty enough of traffic to get away with it....

This has been covered in the bike press for quite a long time. From what I remember Police bikes are more prone to the problem due to their equipment but it has been reported on private bikes too.
Honda didn't recognise there was a problem - not sure what their current position is.
