No its not. the funny thing is the boat would have won on power to weight, but water is a terrible moving object, the car would come second with the bike last, airodynamics play no part in this as its just .25 of a mile.

Dunno about the boat but ...

Car .... "prototype" Premier racing series vehicle

Bike .... production-based series racing bike

Not saying a MotoGP bike would have won but it may have been a more comparable basis for this stunt.

The fact the bike was a proddy, against a wholly race derived car did raise a smile.

They obviously were too scared to bring a BTCC car instead...

As for the boat, well...

That was just taking photos wasnt it?

Was just thinking, they should have brought the rocket car (the one the Hamster had his prang in).

That'd have made the F1 car look like a sunday drivers mode of transport

Don't know much about boats but once saw some Formula something or other racing on Windermere. They were small flat bottomed things - pretty much rode on top of the water and avoided any displacement/drag problems - and I was stunned at how fast they were. We sat behind the startline looking at the line up from the rear and when the flag went up there was just a great wall of water and then you saw them flick round the first buoy. It seemed to defy physics. I recall some talk at the time that they were faster off the line than F1 cars.... but for how long?

Anyway I was impressed and watched all aftetrnoon..... aided by hot sunshine and a nearby pub

I wish, top speed I've managed so far is 31mph, downhill with tail wind
