What it has got, that I've never noticed before, is an unusual way of mounting the spokes - the nipples are fitted to the side flange bit of the rim, rather than in the centre of the rim, so the wheels can take tubeless tyres.

Best of both worlds there, I've seen a similar set-up on something, might have been a BMW. Spoked wheels are pretty and sturdy but tubes are an arse pain.
