On the road again

#1 Post by HisNibbs » Sat Feb 28, 2015 10:36 am

The BMW RS just got its MOT and is running nicely again. Not used it for over a year as it was running rubbish with an obvious problem which I was too lazy to sort while enjoying the Cafe Racer and Falco combo.

This winter resolved to sort it even if it meant cam chain tensioner or worse. During the strip down I cleaned the carbs and found that the choke was sticking. So sorted that and didn't strip further, just adjusted them, tapet check and fresh oils all round. Also bought a second hand "flip" screen to make a little change.

It is such a nice bike to ride, smooth, quiet and though not fast is deceptively quick. Even on my first ride of the year shakedown trip, in the wet mud and slime to get the MOT, ridding slowly I looked down at the speedo and thought oops. So good to go for the year I hope.

Nice one :smt002
Always good to wake an old friend up for a ride.
I'm getting twitchy for getting the Falco back out now.

Well done !
Don't know if its nostalgia or dementia but I'm getting longings for another boxer.
I had an rt but the rs was what I really wanted

An appreciating classic or capable workhorse or bit of both can be bought for 2 - 3k but not for much longer... (About 3 - 4 years ago I paid 1700 with lots of trick bits and a few problems)
