Fuelling issue

Got a bit of a fuelling issue. Clogged filter, and blocked breathers. Bike does not like starting at all, and runs for no more than 3 or 4 seconds, so need some info on the following.

What size and material are the fuel line washers at the tank?

Any other filters suitable apart from OEM?

Best sealant for refitting the pump assembly?

I've checked all the voltages, cleaned the starter switch, infact cleaned any terminals I can get access too, bridged the starter solenoid, and pretty much everything else. :smt009

Take the filter to a car parts place, the only important details are the the feeed in/out,make sure they fit your pipes, make sure replacement isnt bigger than original. New filter may have flow direction marks on it, the supply side exits tank from the banjo union bolted into the tank base plate, also check fiter screen in fuel pump base
Tip switch can give similar problems, bike will fire/run on whats in fuel line then cut out.
Bike will run with tip switch dissconnected but dash will display Diag 1
Dont use saelant on tank base plate, if it leaks renew O ring seal

Diag 1 is only reporting the adjustment position of the Throttle Position Sensor - nothing to do with the Tip Over Switch.

As for Falconihlist's problems - sorry, never needed to open the tank (other than at the filler to put fuel in) so have no direct experience.
I do know people have used other fuel filters - maybe something has been posted on Ridersite about it - certainly on AF1

Problem solved :smt003

Strip fuel pump assembly from tank, clean and decalcify all breathers, remove Iraqi desert from base of tank, and put a new filter in.

Top tip for draining the tank, if you have a spare quick disconnect coupling, saves ALOT of hassle and mess :smt002

Cheers for the help troops :smt003

Check all your fuel lines are not clogged
If you can below through your fuel filter, its not blocked (may not be clean though )
The return fuel line has a Quick Disconnect joint, the section that is fitted to the tank has a non return valve, they can sometimes get crudded up,not fully opening when the male and female connectors clip together
NOTE with the QD joint undone the non return will be closed so you cant blow through the line until the male/female are clicked together, easy to overlook, Ive done it :smt017
Bugger, submitted post nano second after you, glad you got a result :smt006

Well, as Andy has always said, there is a very useful manual online, which I have also conveniently printed out at no expense whatsoever to me :smt003

See I knew someone would catch on Ill set em up you bat em down ;)

Actually someone once did come and complain to me about the state of the toilets on the grounds that I got on with the site manager. Not quite sure what all the implications were but that individual has had the slowest computer and shittiest monitor I could find for the last 12 months.

Me petty vindictive spiteful why good sirs I do fear you misjudge me gravely and your pernicious thoughts do injure my very soul
