Managed to get out on the RS today.

This bike is like nothing I have ever ridden before.

With 140 HP on tap it certainly is no slouch.

The exhaust note from 5000rpm onwards is addictive.

Being the RS model the set up from the suspension is very firm, but the bike is a hooligan and so much fun to ride when you forget what you have ridden before.

There is only one thing that the nelli has in common with the ape....... When playing it eats petrol lol. :smt003

Glad you are enjoying your new THREE legged pet, it sounds as nice as it looks.
I will have to come over some time and have a better look.

Sounds a little cracker, Jay. If I had more time I'd be over like a shot to have a look (and a listen) at it, but I doubt I'll have any time spare until June at the earliest, given what we have planned...

Well after 2 years of ownership and 1100 quid lighter for the upgrades, I can officially say this bike is truly awesome.

I have fitted some super sticky rubber a couple of months ago, and the bike turns in so sharp, with awesome grip.

The exhaust note is "Addictive".....And the excelleration is pretty mental.

I collected it back from the dealers after having the last of the upgrades done in August, and used nearly a full tank in 40 miles? :smt017

This is the best riding bike I have ever owned. Quick...Sharp handling.... and a lovely exhaust note.

Would I sell this bike? Well no not really...It will stay with me for years to come. I love the bike.. :smt003

Glad you are still enjoying it Jay. :smt007 :smt001
Not even been on a bike this year, arthrytis aint been too good.
Sorry to say the only thing on wheels that I've purchased recently is a car, replacing the BMW123D -

Got a 63 reg BMW X1 2.0D M-Sport, and I am actually enjoying that.
I took it on the old bike run to Willingham the other day, and took it down Caistor High Street. It is fast, but very smooth, and averaged 53.4 mpg for the whole round trip back to Sheffield. Could possible get that from the Kwack at this time of year on greasy roads, but not the Falco................. the X1 with 4WD just stayed on line at any speed.
It does make you think? :smt017

Yeah, car mpgs have improved hugely - bikes need to play catch-up fast.
My 2.1 litre diesel has managed to average 68mpg on a run from Coventry to London and back - and an overall average of over 49 mpg over the entire time I have had it - a lot of that is my short 3.5 mile urban commute while the thing warms up - though it does share those commutes with the Falco (maybe more on the bike of course)
The Falco can't come close.

I had wondered what has happened to you Howard as you had not posted for some time?

I am working away all time now in my new job.
The money is good but riding bike is not on my list of priorities at weekends, family time is.
Only time I really get chance is when the kids are at a party?.

And for arthritic problems, my knees play me up some times due to kneeling on cold floors when I was younger.

I also spend time working on my bikes when I can. Dale my youngest loves the spanners and helping out.

I hope when the better weather comes a few of us from this area, ie nickynoto. Davshill. Mangocrazy yourself Dalemac can meet up for a ride out?

Agree, Jay. I also didn't ride the bike enough last year and want to rectify that next year. Was also wondering how and where you were, Howard. Hope you can manage the arthritis enough to get out on the bike some more.

I've had the arthritis for more than 36 years now, so had become used to it, but in the last few years it suddenly "found" my feet and ankles, which is the biking problem. Some days I can almost walk OK, most days I can only manage on crutches, the latter is a problem.
Actually riding either bike is fine, even with the original clip-ons.
Putting feet down in traffic or "paddling" around in slow traffic on the bike is the really bad area, as I never know whether either foot will touch down and take the weight.
I dropped the Falco almost 2 years ago in a filling station, moving to a different pump. I dropped the Kwack 9R putting it away in the garage about a year ago. On both occasions I ended up with the bike on top of me, with very little damage to either me or the bikes, (although I do need a rear brake for the Falco......anybody have one???).
You have to worry what might happen if you end up under the bike in a less crowded or more dangerous place.
I have not decided on selling either or both bikes as I don't want to call it a day, but I have had a good innings of almost 53 years on two wheels.
Nice hearing from the people on this site again, it has always been the best biking forum I have used.

On a different tack, my nephew has just got back into biking, and bought a FALCO !! ( he previousy owned a Gixxer 6 and a TL1000S amongst others), so will let him know about the site next time I see him.

P.S. That's also why I got rid of the BMW123D and got the BMW X1, because it is higher, more comfortable and much easier to get in and out of!!

I'm reluctantly starting to think along those lines, Howard. I'm pretty sure I'll be OK for a few years yet with the VFR and the Falco, but at some point I think I may need to drop down to appreciably lighter bikes. I'm very taken with the KTM 690R single - only weighs 150 kg (!), and KTM will soon be producing an 800cc parallel twin which they have promised will be very light, so taking a cut in capacity shouldn't mean taking a cut in the fun quotient.

Quite the opposite, if KTM owners comments are anything to go by...

Using the term "working" loosely I presume, all you do is text me or ring me about bikes all day and night..........
