Not being short I'd knot know what to go for, but If raising a bike makes alot of difference to how a bike rides then surely lowering it would too?

For starters lean angles would have to be less which could cause can bashing on the road (yes i've heard of titianium plates for it) but from experience lifting the rear wheel in a corner is not a good option :smt005

Then of course what about being able to see over the handlebars? :smt002

As a suggestion how about a Buell Lightning, Moto Guzzi Breva, Gixxer 6 (seen a shorty on one of these, she's 5'2") in fact I'd have thought any of the modern 600 sports would fit you.

BTW I liked this Buell http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-BUELL-XB ... 2351513377

I think the modern Buells look like just another bike - the appeal of the early ones was that they looked so different!

Actually a Hyosung Comet would be another option.. the poor man's Sv650 (itself a budget bike) however the irritating thing is theyre going for better money than the SV!
Comprehensive write-up. Not, apparently, an SV rip-off

Fair enough, 3K is at the extreme low end for them.

If an SV is an option how about an ER6? They're fun to ride and make a good noise but they're not the best built things. I think I was a beta tester...
They are low though, and wasp waisted.

Coming from left field how about something like a ZL900 Eliminator?

Does that explain why they suffered from stress fractures and fell out of the sky?

My current shortlist in order of march :

Benelli TORNADO 900
SL750 Shiver
Mille 1999 - 2002
883 Sportster / 1200 Sportster
ZL1000 Eliminator*
Ducati Monster
Ducati 748

My absolutely not a chance list:

Falco (seat too wide, I cant touch the floor)
Anything Honda
Anything 600cc or lower
Anything that looks old, such as Royal Enfield

Bikes suggested in the thread that havent made my shortlist will have either been discounted on price (too costly or none in my price range) or build quality (kwacks and suzukis) or just cos im picky.

Lol, I havent progressed much from my initial list... although looking at various other bikes has placed the Shiver above the Mille... Just..
Im thinking Shiver crossed with Dorsoduro.. bit of both to create something..

* only a handful left in uk by looks of it http://howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/kawasaki_zl1000-a1

Weren't they all imports from the US anyway? I know there's no Haynes manual for them cos a friend was looking for one.

The Comet 4 was a great success, but then what do you expect when we were the leading country in the world at the time in aircaft design and production.
