The real point for me is that my bike only cost £1400 so the chances of me spending more than that on riding gear are slim to none existent. My entire wardrobe of biking gear cost less than £500 and that's for mostly decent quality stuff. RST leather trousers and textile jacket. RST summer gloves. Arlen Ness boots. AGV helmet. Hein Gericke oversuit. And an unbranded 1 piece set of leathers for TD's which cost the princely sum of £37 delivered off fleabay. Bit of a no brainer for me but then I've never been overly concerned about having the latest, flashest, bestest, newest, warmest, coolest, nicest, other ..est kit. I just want stuff that looks decent, does it's job, and is comfortable.
Others feel differently about things which is why the new range of bikes from the various manufacturers will still sell even though they are basically no different from last years stuff. I'm quite happy on my 10 year old V Twin thanks very much.
