Useful Stuff from Aldi

#1 Post by D-Rider » Thu Oct 15, 2009 1:48 pm

I've always thought that these EDZ Innershell thingies were a great idea. Windproof (great as my leathers are perforated), and pack down really small - just the thing to keep in the bike in case it goes a bit chilly.

What I've never been so keen on is the ridiculous £40 price tag.

Seems that Aldi have come to the rescue with their Ultra-light Running Jacket that seems to have all the advantages of the EDZ item except that it costs £14.99 and it's bright fluorescent yellow.

No I haven't become a Dayglo-Derek - you wear these things under your leathers ... but it does give them a dual purpose role as the mandatory HiVis jacket that you have to carry with you in much of Europe (at least I assume it meets the requirements).
These are in their stores from today (but are just one of their limited time offers).

Not sure it will help me though .... they only go up to XL size ... if its a generous XL I'll be OK.

Now that brings me to what I've spotted coming up in Aldi from Sunday (18th Oct).
Turbo Grip Wrench Set (2 strap wrenches) @ £3.99. Very useful to Aprilia riders for removing your bar-end weights without damage - plus many other uses (I bought some a couple of years back).

Magnetic Tray set (2 Magnetic trays plus 2 magnetic stips that you put on the wall and they hold your tools) @ £8.99

T handle Torx/Hex set and Chisel and Punch sets also look useful

A few other things too.

..... just thought you might appreciate the "heads-up"

I'm pretty sure the High Vis requirement doesn't apply to motorcyclists in Europe. We asked everywhere before last yrs trip to Spain to try and determine exactly what the law is for bikers on this point. Some said yes, most said no. We asked in Spain and were told no. All the spanish bikers we met this year didn't carry them either.

When one of our party was stopped and fined by the Spanish plod (small No plate) nothing was said and we weren't asked to produce them
