If you go down to East Yorkshire today beware of a big surprise!!!!

12 months in prison, 4 year ban + an extended test for a new licence,

Not impressed with the cop's riding, evidence or excuses!

PC Smith, who has been an advanced motorcyclist with Humberside Police for the past eight years, said: "I had to increase my speed and my level of risk in order to keep up with Saxby.
"I was trying to operate video equipment, to see what was happening on the road and to talk on the radio.
"The dangerousness of this driving is shown on the video."

WTF !!

As for the sentence.

excessive jail term

suspended sentence at most - man will loose his livelihood etc.

I agree with a ban and extended test though

Hey, Sam ..... have you noticed this was posted in the Falco section ..... just like the story it's a contravention of regulations with no one getting hurt or any property damaged.
Better move it to somewhere more general before someone gets slammed in jail for a couple of years.

..... contrast with some muppet knocking me off a bike and busting 4 ribs and the cops don't give a #### - police report states "Slight Injury" "Bruising to Shoulder" .... presumably to save them from not following it up or taking any witness details .....

..... but if you happen to be going a bit quick you get banged-up for just going a bit quick ....

(BTW not looked at the video so don't know whether this example was reckless or not - just a general comment)

I ride most of the time in East Yorks and Nth East Lincs as there are some great roads and not many cameras but as always; if you're on a well known route to a popular bike cafe (in this case Seaways) common sense says........be careful you know plod will be about

They often use the Police helicopter on a Weds night to cover Squires at Sherburn and all the routes to & from are heavily policed.

I drive 30-40,000 miles a year with work and go days sometimes a week without seeing a single cop car.......But Weds night passing near to Sherburn we saw 4, yes 4 full blown 2 up T5 Volvo estates. Coincidence? I think not.

To me it's the hypocrisy of the judges that hand out this level of punishment to a biker but then give a mugger a 100hrs community service sentence thats get my blood boiling. Yes the guy deserved to be punished, it's a risk we all take when we break the law in any capacity. But if this guy was a well know twokka he'd have got a small fine and a rehabilitation course on the coast instead of losing everything. I mean the road was dry, pretty empty and I couldn't see anything on the video that constituted "dangerous" other than the speed he was doing.

As always we present the Police and the courts with an easy soft target that don't give them a fight in any way shape or form, I mean he didn't even try to get away

I know that the law is the law and the police have a job to do to and certainly I don't like it if some one comes tanking past my house ........... but if the guy was riding dangerously what is a responsible police officer doing driving at the same spead while talking on the radio and operating video equipment? (probably on a less capable bike weighing twice as much)

When the police persue with bikes on the road when the person tries to out run them does it not make a dangerouse situation far more so?
