Loved that bike.
Got me all the way down to Devon via all the minor roads from up ere in Durham; Took SEVENTEEN hours!!! Was on L-plates at the time so no Motorway work! :smt005
Was even better when she fired out the baffle at some point when I wasnt looking and from then on she sounded louder than my Falco!!!
Got another 10mph outta her too! :smt003
At least until the crank melted a few months later... :smt010

My very first ride was a BSA Dandy - terrible thing! 2 gears, slow and very slow, and a strange preselector arrangement where you twisted the frip to select the gear then operated the clutch to engage it - disaster if you had to stop suddenly as you were stuck in top (2nd!) and couldn't twist into 1st cos you were holding the clutch in with that hand!

Upgraded to a C50 after this one!

Like most of us I wish I still had it. these are going for upwards of £800 on e-bay even for a really tatty one.

I used to own a CJ360. I loved it. I put a CB360 gearbox in it and fitted some RD250 wheels so I could have a disc on the back instead of a drum. I had to take the frame to the local bike shop so it could have a mount welded on to take the master cylinder. I wish I had some pics of it as it was a great looking bike when I finished it.

That was my first real attempt at doing some mods. Still modding now :smt001

Ok, found a picture of my lean, mean speed machine! Ok, it's not my particular one, but you know what I mean :smt002

There are other SS50 pictures on the web but I feel this one does the most justice to the sheer luxury of the ride... :smt004

Good job we never had the Trade's Description Act in the 60's.

Remember the Raleigh Wisp as well ....... it only did 25mph if you pedalled very very fast.
