This is my point, I was initially concerned but cannot notice the lack of balancing on either wheel, so are you being conned out of another £14 or so per wheel?[/quote]

£14 a wheel - you are being conned. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its always been done automatically as part of the fitting wherever I have had tyres done. I can't remember ever paying £14 to have a tyre fitted including balancing (although I always take loose wheels).

Balancing may be included in the price,as may be a charge for disposal of your old hoops.
Have you asked for a price without these services ???
Nearest bike shop to me will fit for free if purchased from them ( not cheap ) or £35 plus vat per wheel
CON but they have the monoply

The places I buy from are either the cheapest reasonably locally for tyres and fitting or I buy online (even cheaper) and get them fitted (and balanced). I think I've never paid more than £15 for a pair to be fitted (and balanced).
