Marches Meet, 20th - 22nd. May 2011
A few of us have been discussing having a few more meets this year, and have decided that this would be a Jolly Good Thing.
First off (pro tem) is : Newcastle-on-Clun, Shropshire.
This campsite http://www.clunvalleycamping.co.uk/ is 2 mins walk from this pub http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en-GB& ... nn+sy7+8ql
I've just spoken to the campsite proprietor - a very pleasant-sounding lady called Dawn - and she seems very amenable to a visit from our good selves. £5.00 per adult per night, no additional charge for vehicles. £2.00 per night for electric hook-up (might be useful for cooking?). We can have the use of her 'camp-fire barbecue' -which, from her description, sounds like the contraption on which St. Laurence achieved martyrdom. Portable barbecues are acceptable.
The Crown has some B & B rooms, and seems to get good reviews. Evening meals, but no Saturday lunch.

I'd be grateful for early indications of interest (or lack thereof).
For those not familiar with the area, it's a very beautiful and quiet part of the country.
Would people be happy with a combination of self-catering & dining in the pub? I (with my better half), will, however, endeavour to organise breakfast, although the facilities will probably preclude anything on the lines of Pete's gastronomic tour-de-force in Norfolk last year.

Just heard from the camp site. Dawn sounds most accommodating
Thanks for your email. I have booked your party in, I do not have a cut off period for additional bookings, as this weekend I anticipate that it will be quiet, everyone will come out of the woodwork for the Bank Holiday. I would appreciate if you could put me in the picture as more people book so that i can "plan" your area and ensure your party have plenty of room. Also should anyone require an electric hook up point that will need to booked asap as I only have 4 in the field.

Futs?
Still don't know if I can get the time off, also need to break it gently to hubby as I'm at a rally the previous weekend near Peterborough, doesn't seem worth going back to the south coast, just work my way via RBR landmarks and friends and relatives....... but I'd like to if I can - not much help to you really!

The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
