Further to the Suspension Setup Day that we're trying to pull together in October, we're hoping to follow it up with a Dyno & PCIII setup day.

I know that earlier in the year there was some enthusiasm and discussion about doing this.

Once again I've been discussing this with Griff ([ur=http://www.apriliaperformance.co.uk/l]Aprilia Performance[/url]) and he would be happy to host a forum day along the those lines.

Griff will offer some Forum Group Discount for that day so it will work out cheaper than if we turned up to see him individually to get our bikes set up. We can also have a bit of fun meeting up together.
The number of people we can accommodate during the day will depend on how many want (time consuming) PCIII custom maps and how many just want power runs to see what their bikes will do. The costs for power runs will obviously be somewhat less than the cost of sorting out custom maps for PCIIIs.

Once again, this is a pre-announcement to gauge interest.

We are thinking that this might be a good season opener for next spring .... giving us all something to look forward to over the dark months and something for which you can save up any cash gifts that you may be given for Christmas!

What are you likely to want: PCIII custom map or power run?

I'd be interested in getting a baseline power run done to see how much grunt the bike has really got...

This could be an interesting comparison, I believe I have all the same engine mods as Aladin (Rene airkit and chip, 54's, same current map) except for the exhaust. Be interesting to see what the different outcomes are.

Probably best if one of you sets this up - it's going to be a while until:

• a) I've found time to do the various mods I need to before getting a custom map
  b) The bike-fund has enough in it to pay for a custom map (the car engine crapping itself didn't help in that respect .....)

I need to have a chat with Griff later today, I'll see if I can get a date off him for this.

Had a chat with Sharon at AP, don't think this is going to happen in the immediate future, they don't have access to a local dyno anymore. However they're hoping to have a mobile dyno rig at their open day in September to do runs on, don't think they'll be doing custom mapping though.

Will post up here if anything changes.

What about Neil at MPH Tamworth? It's just down the road. I thought Neil and Griff were thick as thieves...?

Don't know, just repeating what Sharon said. I'm sure if we approached any dyno centre as a group we could get a discount.

Update:

Griff says he should be able to arrange something for us with his new dyno guy, will post up again when I know more.

Until then, as a guide, it's possible to do three custom maps a day or two advanced maps (where each cylinder is individually mapped, for an extra £40 or so) a day. So it may be worth sorting our selves into groups, a day just for dyno runs, a day or two for maps and another day or two for advanced maps depending on who wants what doing.

and, if you are going to do this - make sure the ports on each exhaust are able to be undone!

Sorry to keep harping on about this, but didn't Neil (i.e. 'old dyno guy') and Griff work together on the Mille 'bowl of spaghetti balance pipe' exhaust? Sounds to me like there's been a fairly major falling out...
