Anyone planning on going on the MCN 'Reclaim North Wales' rideout, 13/9/09?

I certainly like the notion, but have no chance of being there. :smt001

I'm working otherwise would have gone for a laugh.
I must say though in 7 years of riding in north Wales I've never been stopped although doing 99% of my riding during the week probably helps.

I've lived in N.Wales all my life and have only been stopped twice, both for speeding and both times only recieved a lecture.Could possibly be the local plate.Don't mean it's right what they're going to all the others so I will be there.

Hi Martdude and Teulu,
Following on from the postponement of the Yorkshire ride out, Ian (Fastasfcuk) and myself are thinking of coming.

Where are you going to be.
Is the Ponderosa a good meeting point?

Pondreosa is probably the best(roads, scenery etc)and its where bikers congregate every weekend.Dragons Rest would be the easiest to find as you come straight off the motorway on to the A55 and the cafe is right alongside A55.Neither are more than an hour from Swallow Falls where everyone is meeting up.

I think the local cops will be looking forward to this rideout, they could get their monthly quotas in one day. Make sure you are 100% legal, pipes, cans etc. NO WHEELIES!

Good luck everyone :smt001

Might be good for a rideout somewhere else in North Wales that day ..... let's face it, everywhere else in the area will probably be entirely cop-free and fully available for unhindered fun.

Where's your sense of solidarity?

I'll be heading for the Ponderosa, with a small contingent from Cleobury

It was a light-hearted comment Mart - an observation that all of the constabulary will have their focus on that event - leaving the rest of the area unpoliced.

That said, I think this 'event' has much opportunity to backfire on us - I'm not sure it's the best way to go about things. All we need are a couple of idiots speeding, wheelying or over the limit from the night before and the police will nick them, portray them as representative of the protesters and the press will do the rest.
.... and in a group as big as predicted, there are bound to be a few idiots ....

I just hope this doesn't happen.

I know that, mate. As was my response - sort of.

But I genuinely feel that the spirit of protest in this country has ebbed away in recent decades. And this has allowed successive governments to chip away at our civil liberties. We've allowed ourselves to become a nation of self-centered, forelock-tugging, complacent serfs, with plenty of gripes against whatever is dished out to us, but without the stomach for a real fight against those doing the dishing-out. And none of the main parties are offering much in the way of viable alternatives
