Shame, I know Ian very well and would trust him with anything. Looks like they are trying to clean things up though. Saw this on his Facebook wall last week. Let's hope they sort it as charities are going to go very short this year.

Yes, as long as the dosh you throw in buckets gets to the kids and not siphoned off - which was the inference in what I read...

OK it does take some reading so in summary

Accusations are being made that someone is pocketing money

I wasn't aware that ruthless patch hijacking of events was quite so blatent these days.

It should be as easy as TN says, but there's always things to consider. Police need to be on side, Councils, etc
Health and Safety as far as the organisers go is a big thing nowadays, gone are the days of simply tipping up with a toy for a needy kid. where did it come from, is it new, does it match the age group.. and thats just a bloody teddybear. Eggs are pretty much the same, and the organisers will be painfully aware of the red tape involved.
Then there's money.. someone has to check it, someone should approve all expenditure out of the kitty (hivis vests, banners, first aiders..whatever) and it all has to be accounted for with complete clarity/transparency

I think.... from scanning the various forums who're discussing this, that is where the crux of the matter lies, two camps desperate to get money to the kids who need it (read hospital and charities) but two differing ways of achieving this and different views on all the above. As with everything you'll get a division when there's differing thought trains and this seems to have flared up. It appears the ".org" side have backed down and although licking wounds seemingly, have laid the way clear for people to support the ".co.uk" tribe.

Put it this way, the amount of sh*t the subject appears to have thrown up, Im sure 2009's will be the most transparently accounted for, best planned, best supported run theyve had. it just needs people to support it and ignore the rumours that scatter the net if there is anything untoward, trust me, it'll be found and sorted and the Kids wouldnt lose out.

The co.uk side is a Charity, so they can claim back extra from the Government whereas the other side are Ltd Company and cant do that.

I personally dont care about the eggrun as Im not from the Wirral and support my local Hospitals and Homes instead, doing various runs and rallies for charity in East Anglia :smt012

I did note someone from the Egg run has joined the Site in a seemingly Official manner, which isnt a problem as Ive neverhad a problem with charitable events being advertised, but the first sign of anything overly political (other than the obvious, know it's going to come, reply to this thread, which I feel is their right) and there'll be a polite 'do one' sent out
