So, have just returned from 9 days in France, down in Bordeaux, and decided I need another weekend away before the cold starts to come in for the end of the year.

I have booked myself in for Friday 23rd & Saturday 24th Sept. at the YHA in Clun ( near where Marches meet has been).

The link should take you to the site.

Intend to have a dry warm bed ( they do campimg there as well) and use the facilities in the village on the Friday night, 3 pubs, probably will ride to Aberystwth Saturday for ice-cream, then back to the hostel to cook up something in the afternoon/evening, then home after breakfast on Sunday morning.
Hope that the weather will remain dry, if anyone wants to tag along, book direct with YHA.
If you let me know, we can maybe hook up something to cook on the Saturday evening at the hostel ( they also advertise a BBQ pit on site as well.)

Ride safe,

Old Git.

It does really depend on the weather, but if it's reasonable I'd really fancy some of that. It would probably only be for Saturday, mind you...

I'd have joined you in my campervan, but I'm at a bike rally near MK that weekend (special dispensation to go in the van, went on the trike for years and got a long distance award to prove it).

No worries Gran, hope you enjoy your weekend and get another award.

So, long range weather forecast is suggesting that it will be fine at least, need to tell me what you want cooking for Saturday evening, Stroganoff????
Will likely be something with rice........

No probs Andy, glad someone else is going, was getting very lonely in here, thinking maybe everyone else had died due to the general lack of interest.

We're currently in France house-bothering, flying back next Thursday. I'd really like to go for a last ride-out before summer finally ends (although I suppose it's already autumn now), so if the forecast is halfway decent we'll be up for a bimble on Saturday... :smt001

Get yourself across then & follow along if you fancy it, a good run from Sheffiled over to Clun though and thats without the ride further west for the ice-cream (weather permitting - it could be hot coffee....)

Let me know if you are coming,

Rgds

Cool, looks like the YHA still has beds available at presnet for Sat although showing limited numbers & OK for Sunday.
If you are coming across would book on-line first to avoid disappointment

Go safe,

I think it's probably safest to assume we won't be coming - sorry. We didn't get back home from our hold until early this morning and we're both shattered, so will probably need a decent lie-in tomorrow morning. If we do go out for a bimble it will probably be a fairly local affair.

Sorry to raise hopes and then dash them, but have an excellent time and good luck with the weather.
