Anyone else using it? So far, so good.. A few little niggles that I could do without, but all in good time I suppose.

Does anyone have any hints and tricks?

Been using it 9 months now, It knocks the socks of vista, et all.

Sorry no tips I'm not hardcore nowadays.

One thing though it really needs a decent graphics card to get best performance, I'm using 2 AMD radeon 7850 OC on crossfire, and a 850 watt psu.

windows 7 is a worthy successor to windows XP - lets ignore that steaming pile of horse shit vista
(I did not like it at all - can you tell!)

best thing I can say about windows 7 is that it is almost Mac like - high praise indeed :)

(Oh the new mac os, Mountain Lion comes out next month - and get this - its is believed it will cost £13

thats not an upgrade price - thats the price fullstop - read that and weep M$

oh yes - Linux is good - i would use that as my second choice system

(For the record, we use windows computers as glorified games consoles - not for anything else....)

£13.....Thats not bad....Normally if Apple forgot to dot an 'i' they would fix it, tell you it is new and charge you £400 :smt002

I replaced Vista with 7 a few months ago, far faster than Vista, quicker to find stuff ect.
Since installing 7, my keyboard has gone totally nuts, the pointer arrow has a mind of its own and flits around like a raver on speed, stuff also dissapears (like my original reply)
I can be typing my 10th sentence and it will suddenly appear in the middle of my first sentence
Sometimes I can retrieve it using Ctrl and Z, sometimes not
Dont know if thats my laptop or 7 :smt017

The thing with virtually all device drivers, they either work, or they don't. Not really much of an in-between. I'm with Andy on trackpad/mouse issues. Try using an external (proper mouse) and turn the trackpad off. Most laptops have a button about the keyboard/general area for toggling the pad.

Back to Win7.

After sorting a few bits out, such as the permission bollocks, I've pretty much nailed it. Managed to track down an updated driver and control software for my sound card, so I've been happily playing with my EQ to get that back to how I like it. :smt003

Trackpad problem I reckon, Ive suffered similar of late

Clean the trackpad properly with the pooter off. Doesnt take a lot of oily finger, dust, coffee, to trip a trackpad up

Similarly clean the mouse.

Ive tried a mouse, no difference
Ages ago my cat knocked over an empty beer can which fell into the laptop case, the few drops of lager didnt do the keyboard any favours, loads of stuff stopped working
Had the laptop fixed and the guy said it was driver problems, un installed/ re installed everything that didnt work... fixed !
Im guessing my laptop still has alcohol poisoning/driver problems

Get a trackball, no issues with them until they break.
