is now free!
You may or may not have heard about Spotify, at one stage it was invite only however due to the immense interest, it's now free to use for everyone.

Had this for yonks via the older invite system. Very impressed.. Although some tracks are missing off albums and some artists don't want their stuff on there.. But that's where bit-torrent comes in handy.. haha

Just got sent an invite tonight, so now on the 'free' rather than the 'open'

Definately the way forward for music on the net

I'd only just realised that after my pc was rebuilt a few months ago, I'd not reinstalled spotify. Thought I'd sort that out and maybe also install it on my phone.
So reinstalled and logged on ... then I got this:
Not impressed - they've changed the rules so that if I want to listen to anything more than 5 times I have to shell out at least £60 a year.
I could live with the old advertising-based "free" version but a limit of 5 listens is rubbish.
I guess I'll not be resuming my use of spotify

I went for the £5 a month version as I use it almost every day. The lack of ad's was my main reasoning. They tried to keep it as it was for as long as they could, but as with everything successful, the people at the top get greedy and start demanding more.. By that I mean the record labels started to knock on the door a little louder each time!

I usually just stream Planet Rock or use grooveshark if there's something specific I want to listen to.
