'Nother website question

#1 Post by Nooj » Wed May 05, 2010 2:57 pm

A lot of the septics over on the AF1 forum say the lettering is overlapping on some of the titles on my website. I've looked at it with IE, Chrome and Firefox and two different computes and three different screens and can't make it happen. Any ideas what's causing it and how to fix it? Is it just cause they're using old machines/browsers?

Nooj, just checked with IE8 and it DOES overlap - 'Prevention' is overlapping 'Cure' on the home page. Overlapping happens on all the pages where the title is more than one line long (but only the titles as far as I can see.
It also does it on Firefox 3.0.1 but on fewer pages. Unfortunately, I haven't a clue why :smt017 My screen res is set at 1024 x 768 if that's any help.
The ride is the reason ........ the destination is just the excuse.

Does it for me, Firefox, but if I go to 'View' and 'zoom out' twice it fixes it. Think if it were me I'd just be inclined to change the size of the font on the title.

there is a reason why i ask....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

What am I using? Windows something or other, Vista possibly?

Interesting you saying about the titles being more than one line long, on my screen they are all one line long, with loads of space at the end.

i think:

<span style="font-family: Tahoma; color: #320347; font-size: 14pt; line-height: 111%;">PREVENTATIVE MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE</span>

is where the problem is - try line height 100%

I changed it to 111% as it was overlapping when I first did it at 100%, the whole thing's pissing me off tonight anyway. Mr.Site is a pile of shit, it's only showing the new header/banner/what ever it's called at the top on some pages and is refusing to upload a picture cos it doesn't like the file name, even though it's one word with no spaces or punctuation, it says it can't use it because there are spaces or punctuation in the name.

Time for bed :smt013

Groovy, should be in all evening. Got a cold though, so you might struggle to understand me with a bunged up nose and intermittent hacking and coughing up lumps :smt078
