Can't update my AVG!

#1 Post by BikerGran » Tue Nov 18, 2008 12:31 am

My computer died and I've got it back from the shop now with a new hard drive, power unit, and more RAM. He saved the data of the old HD, and has re-installed most of the programs BUT every time I try to update my AVG8 it says the connection with the server has failed.

Any ideas?

I've already checked the firewall and it's supposed to be letting AVG work....

go through avgcontrol panel and under update select manual update and then see what happens

(I have heard that they have had some server problems but....)

i have not used avast in some time, but it was ok - I prefer avg though - having said that, I use a mac on all bar my gaming pc - so what virus problems?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

My mate has had the same problems. Eventually connected and downloaded but took 2 days!

A clever friend on another forum told me there had been a corrupt update, told me what files to remove and bingo! All working again!
