Silly me should have left things alone but in a moment of madness subscribed to the latest AGV 8.0.
Now the PC is running at half speed and the web pages are so small I need a magnifying glass to read them.

I updated a vista home, xp pro and xp home without probs.

Thinking back there was a toolbar option of some sort that I refused cos it looked hungry.


...... ermm are we talking about the free version?

A quick google reveals ...

One more tip .... if you don't want the "link checker" part of the program then untick/uncheck that option when you install.

The link checker is the real resource hog.

Had no probs with Free version 8.
Have installed it on about 5 computers now with no speed issues reported at all.


KISS - Keep it Simple, Stupid. Whistles and bells really arent required with AVG, just the basic programme.

Thanks for the tip Samray about the link checker, have disabled it and the pc is running better.
But how do I get to view my web pages larger.

By the way it’s the full version I have. I’m sure I was getting a popup telling me the free version was being stopped and now had to subscribe.

It was very misleading and one had to look hard to find the free update.
Almost enough to convince me to give it the elbow, but I do think it is probably the best around.
I suspect the full version is somewhst greedier resourcewise.


There was also a lookalike site if you happened to be googleing for the update which was obviously intended to leech customers for whatever reason.

I have three browsers on this machine, IE, FF and the one that I invariably use which can be found here.
Apart from other useful features such as auto refresh it does have a zooming feature for web pages. That would be a workaround till you find the answer.
It was one of the original tabbed browsers.
I find it a lot faster and more stable than IE.

Everything, or just the text? Holding control and scrolling the mouse wheel shrinks/expands the text.

Seems to be everything is smaller though its hard to tell with pics but text defiantly is. Is there something in set-up that needs changing.
