Not me mind..

:smt002

The last week ive started getting spam emails to my gmail account.. from...

Me!!

:smt011

Now I know it's not me as i've set up 'spam' emails in my address book so im aware if I have problems myself.. If I were to get a worm I have spam@fuckyouspammer.net sat in my address book which should then get picked up by 'my' worm and returned to me by my mail service showing that it couldnt be delivered..
Ive not had such a message and im sure (100%) that besides that, that it's not me.. Im not exactly crap at keeping my PC squared away :smt012
I have a feeling I know who it is though, a mate at work who is scarily un web savvy and managed to get himself onto the net and im sure still isnt using any form of real protection...... That's me popping round tomorrow to sort his PC for him then.. :smt013

In short, this happens..

"User1 is sent an infected e-mail and then the e-mail is opened, triggering propagation
The worm finds the addresses of User2 and User3 within the address book of User1
From the computer of User1, the worm sends an infected e-mail to User2, but the e-mail appears to have been sent from User3"

Hohum.. Isnt the web great... :smt011

But is your addy covered by the filters when sent by yourself to yourself?

I had a similar prob a year ago, I couldn't solve it myself, but my brother in law did as they specialize in those things.

How do you mean?

Yes, it automatically drops the message into the spam folder..?

So if you use a site and use an online email form and request a copy it goes straight into your spam folder?

you are not alone old boy

I had one that shocked me - I suspect that this is a cloak email that perports to be you, possibly by reading cache??

I have had one, and am now watching stuff - but nothing else is happening untoward.... I hope

Im pretty sure that my mate has had an attack via him opening some dumbfk email.. which has then read and forwarded via his address book..
He's not very savvy tbh.. Im waiting for his first Nigerian Scam.. that should be worth selling tickets to watch..

Ive had two emails in total, so not too bad.. Still got to get round his and fix his pooter. Im certain it's him.. I'd bet your wages on it.
