DVD Burners

Got my self a double layer DVD burner but found out the discs are dearer that the burner what’s all that about?
Can I use normal ones and do dvd players play these things anyway?

Yes you can use conventional DVD discs. It just means you only have 4.7 gb to play with on each disc. with dual layer, you get double that. (but obviously need the dual layer discs in order to achieve that)

Thanks Kwackers its just that I cant seem to get normal dvds to burn.
Will have to take a bit of time to sort it out I guess thank for getting back.

Is it a + and - R burner? or just a -R or just a +R? The DVD formats are different and one wont work on the other, however both will (obviously) work on a + /- R burner.

My desktop pooters will do both, however my laptop will only do -R's
