Mobile BB modem for laptop ... thingie

We don't use the laptop much at home usually so have been making do with normal dial-up connection. However, I mistakenly bought the other half an Ipod for his birthday last year so the phone bill has been creeping up and up since we use PAYG Tiscali dial-up - oh, and it takes forever to download a song.

I've noticed T Mobile and 3 advertising little BB modems that plug straight into a laptop from £15 pm ... has anyone had any experience of them?

It won't be getting heavy use as we only download the odd song each month and check the MotoGP news so download limit isn't crucial but reliability is.

It's either this or 'proper' BB but I quite fancy the idea of it being mobile since we take the laptop on holiday to download the cameras onto anyway so may find having tinternet on tap handy.

I think that you need a broad band connection to use the usb wifi plug in for broadband
9Unless I have missed something that is)

This is a different thing I think - more like a mobile phone type of modem so you can take the lap top anywhere in the country rather than just wireless and within a certain range of the modem on the wall - not sure if i'm making sense!

Thats the way I remember it Yam.
Briefly looked into it a while back but cant remember why I very quickly discarded the idea.
Possibly because of the speeds expected? :smt017

Ahh ... so going by 100% of respondees thought it was a bit of a dog I don't think I'll bother. I'll have a look at 'proper' BB instead.

cheers chaps :)
