A quick geek about the RiderSite Private Message System

#1 Post by Kwackerz » Sun Jul 29, 2007 9:08 am

:smt001 Ive noticed a few people who've had problems with the PM system and sending messages to others.
This is undoubtedly due to the recipient's INBOX being full up!

Let's just explain the PM facility.

You have 4 'boxes'

1. INBOX

2. SENT BOX

3. OUTBOX

4. SAVE BOX

Now each of those red boxes can and will hold 60 messages. Once theyre full, you aint gonna be sending messages.

What you need to do, is now and again EMPTY them!

SENT BOX just scroll to the bottom and click 'DELETE ALL' and that's that one sorted, unless you wish to keep anything for reference, in which case manually select the messages and click 'SAVE MARKED'.
After that then Click 'DELETE ALL'

IN BOX Simply do the same again, save what you want, delete the rest!

SAVE BOX With the Save Box you are stuck with 60 messages. I can alter the amount you can save and I have done twice now, but I point blank refuse to enlarge the storage space any more than it's current levels. It's down to you lot to do a bit of housekeeping. :smt019

There ya go. A quick Geek on RSPMS :smt001

To summarise ; TIDY YOUR PM BOXES UP!! :smt002

Messages stuck in outbox

#3 Post by wayno » Thu Aug 30, 2012 8:17 am

I have tried to PM a few members but have found that all 3 messages are stuck in my outbox and not being sent. My inbox, sent items and saved messages are all well below their respective 60 message limits.

Can anyone help?

Kwackerz, one of the messages is for you, about the QR pins.

well, I know it is down to my aftershave, but i do get more PM's then anybody else - the hobbit often scolds me for it...

I have had a clean up recently though....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Almost certainly they are only stuck because the recipient hasn't read them. Once the people you sent them to have a look at them, they should move to your Sent box (which is not a little wooden container with perfume in)

Tis what Dr said. They sit in your outbox til theyre picked up by the other user and read, when they then move to your sent box.. which should maybe say 'delivered' rather than sent.. and outbox should say sent not outbox...

anyhoo, tisnt broke.

Unless those people have failed to do their housekeeping and therefore have a full Inbox, when your message will stay in your Outbox till they fix the problem!

TBH I don't think they have to BG. I have never deleted anything from my inbox. New stuff just drops in and pushes old stuff out of the way to make room for it.

Unfortunately, such laziness leads to some PMs you wanted to keep disappearing forever. I really should try to use the "save" box a bit more

Nope.. you can fill your inbox to the point it wont accept new ones, however with stealth falco boy, ive had to keep increasing the message allowance.. which is why your inbox has never filled..
there's no auto prune facility on the PMs

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock
