Does this look kosher?

#1 Post by MartDude » Tue Jul 02, 2013 6:25 pm

AFAIK, I don't have an Ubisoft account. I've never used MartDude as a password, only a username. And I'd have thought I would have been addressed by name, not 'Dear Member', if it was genuine.

Security update regarding your Ubisoft account
- please create a new password

Dear Member,

We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorised access to some of our online systems. We instantly took steps to close off this access, investigate the incident and begin restoring the integrity of any compromised systems.

During this process, we learned that data had been illegally accessed from our account database, including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords. Please note that no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft, meaning your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion.

As a result, we are recommending that you change the password for your account: MartDude

To enter your new password, click the link below: https://secure.ubi.com/register/ResetPa ... fault.aspx

Out of an abundance of caution, we also recommend that you change your password on any other Web site or service where you use the same or a similar password.

You can find more information here https://support.ubi.com/en-GB/FAQ.aspx? ... 000eYYxCAM.

For any additional support enquiries, please contact our customer service via our support web site at https://support.ubi.com

We sincerely apologise to all of you for the inconvenience. Please rest assured that your security remains our priority.

Wise words at

NEVER go from a link in an email.

When the main website is up, go there to change a password

But, as far as I can recall, I've never had a Ubisoft account.

So many red lights - not addressing you by name, asking you to click a link, an account you know you don't have........

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...... it's probably best deleted!

Ubisoft address you by your username.. in the above case, "martdude" (thats not the password)

As youll notice its https://secure.ubi.com - which is a legit address

http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/gamesites/up ... -com2.html use that to sort your account out.. but they dont hold money details on there so dont worry, plus if you cant remember having an account chances are your card will have run out by now anyways

Do a search of your email archive for UPlay or Ubisoft and youll probably find long forgotten details of your game

Look at the raw source of the email. I'll wager that what displays as "secure.ubi.com" is not the actual address you will end up at.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

No, do NOT click on that link. You will get all manner of evil nasties installed on your computer.
