My advice for what it's worth is stick to "known"makes check eBay for compatible spares and prices as stuff wil break at some point.

I would also add

AVOID HP COMPAQ DELL etc that do not use standard cases - they are difficult to upgrade and invariably will not take standard size components like power supplys etc.....

Incorrect Sir, I have a HP/Compaq, I have upgraded the power supply to a 850w Baracuda and it runs 2 x AMD Radeon HD 7865 video cards on crossfire, they both have their own cpu's and 4 gigs of memory as well as the max on the system of 16 gig. It was the easiets upgrade I've ever done on a computer and I also have spare sockets for stuff like tv cards and the latest adaptors for other stuff i might add on later.

you are very lucky Gio....

i know hanna has a compaq, less than 3 years old and that was a struggle to get a decent PCIe graphics card in to it....

I imagine its come about because of their server technology which the now are starting to use in ordinary comps, ie economy of scale. I know they used to be utter b'stard's to change ( spsh the old 286-486 series)
