New monitor?

I've got XP and am quite happy with it, just don't want to get a new computer till there's a good OS loaded on it!

I have MS Office but rarely use much of it.

When I want a system for maipulating photos I shall get Gimp, it's free.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

BTW my monitor arrived today - it's huge! Not plugged it in yet, got to figure out what all the leads are that came with it and why some are 'optional'.

i like free

but even though The Gimp is free, and it works well - it is not even in the same league as photoshop......

It was recommended to me by a professional photographer, which is something I'll never be!

You should just need two, the power cable and a cable which connects the monitor to the graphics card. Should be either VGA or HDMI. Use HDMI is possible, as it is better quality.

Very true, but these Hanspree models usually have a mixture of VGA, HDMI and DVI. Mins has one VGA port and 2 HDMI ports.

BG, did you get it sorted?

Not yet, been busy today.

There's a sound cable as well for the built in speakers - but there doesn't appear to be any where to plug in headphones so I prolly won't use that.

So I've got my mspangly new monitor and it's great! The screen is so bright anmd sharp, I love it!

But - I've set it to 'fit' rather than 'wide' because the manual told me that if you set it to fit it won't distort the narrower picture but will be wider when needed. Now I'm looking at a website that needs it to be wider - and it's not happening!

Suggestions?

You may need to change your setting on the operating system. Cant remember how to do it on xp though, it has been a few years.

Next question - why will my printer only print in pink? I thought the colour cartridge had run out so put a new one in but it's still printing in pink!
