I've been with Zen for a few years now Mango and rate them very highly.
Not the cheapest mebbe, but arguably the best.

This thread couldn't have come at a more opportune moment. I've been battling with Tiscali's technical support (if you can call them that) for weeks now over my terrible broadband speed. It's been fine for the last couple of years but over the last month or two, it's dropped to this level and a lot lower. Tiscali cannot explain what has happened but it's probably my fault (although nothing has been changed or altered equipment or set up wise)

I've actally seen a 0.06 Mb/s speed recorded!!

You can see why after weeks of getting nowhere, speaking to lots of different people who all ask me the same questions over and over, I've finally given in and today I've signed up with Virgin Media.

They cannot actually install though for another month!! So I've got this rubbish service to put up with for another four weeks

I started to worry about PlusNet after they got taken over by BT...
Hi Mate,

i have only been with them 1 month but service is very good, i was with sky before and had similar connection speed between 12am and 8 am but then things would slow down to similar speed to hisnibs :( for the rest of the day i find with Zen that no matter what time of the day i am getting the same speed (6-7mb)which is what i wanted.

I think I win:

For those of you using ADSL, the 'A' stands for 'Asymmetric' - which means "not equal". They give you a higher download speed at the cost of a slow upload speed - which for home users is just fine. How many of us run a website from our house??

Quite ..... which is why I'm rather confused as to why my upload speed is so slow when I'm on cable - not ADSL.

.... and, yes, you win for the moment but I'm about to install my connection speed accelerator application ..... I think they call it "photoshop"

Funnily enough I'm only on the "up to 1 meg" package. About £12 a month

Date 27/10/09 17:08:42
Speed Down 5179.31 Kbps ( 5.1 Mbps )
Speed Up 375.60 Kbps ( 0.4 Mbps )
Server speedtest1.thinkbroadband.com

I check it monthly and that's about average, doesn't vary a lot.

At least mine are consistently crap.

Spoke to India, they have logged it with UK Tech to be dealt with.

'I cannot test your speed, it is a very poor condition is it not'

'Yeah mate, thats why im phoning..its crap...'

''You have a very slow connection. I have better at home'

'If you tell me you live in a shanty on the edge of a major town in India, I will personally tear down the Telecom tower in London with my bare hands'

'No Sir, but I am not with BT at home'
