Headset recommendations?

#1 Post by MartDude » Thu Aug 19, 2010 7:20 pm

Succumbing to pressure from a technophiliac fellow RS member, who seems to wish to talk a lot, I'll shortly be getting set up with Skype

I'd be grateful for recommendations for a suitable headset (using a PC)

Thinking of something like these :

PS. Real reason for this is to keep in touch with my daughter, who's buggered off to Oslo university for a year.

lantronics are best but most expensive

logitech ones are good - try evilbay

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Are you using a webcam?
Get one with built in mic and use normal PC speakers.
Works for me :smt001

ps. I tried a microsoft lifecam webcam and it was poo. wouldn't work with skype. I'd steer clear of the microshite headset and cameras.

fair choice there

and i think that mart already has a webcam?

and using a built in mike with normal speakers can be a fine solution - BUT - you can get shitloads of interference from the screen, speakers etc....

(I also like the usb ones as they are their own sound card - you can carry on listening to music, playing a game or what ever and just use the usb headset as is :) )

As always, grateful for the input - & particularly liked Joecrx's

Andy - you've planted a horrible image in my head - a gimp suit struggling to contain Pete's belly
