spyware or not?

#1 Post by FlyingKiwi » Fri Nov 02, 2007 11:56 am

Hi Geeks
Having an issue with my BB, Can't upload, I think it's my provider but thats another story.
I thought I'd run a malware check so used PC Pitstop Exterminate .
It found 7 cases of Brospy and want £15 to register and remove it.
So I've run AVG spyware, Spybot S&D, Windows Defender and PC Tools Spyware Doctor and none of them can find it.
SO, do I have a problem, can I remove it for free, or are PC Pitstop telling fibs to get 15 of my hard earned pounds :smt019

Brospy is a nasty. (google it)
There are removal tools out there but you need to be careful to use a trusted site.

OK so now I've downloaded the SOPHOS Anti-virus (does spyware too) and that shows no threats.
Looking more like a con by PC Pitstop Exterminate
...but how to be sure :smt017

Personally I would trust Sophos before I would Pitstop.

PC Pitstop is good for running the full test to identify running problems or benchmark a computer. Past that it's better to look elsewhere.
