It's been fun getting the Falco on the road, and it's always fun riding round on it no matter what the weather is. I think even I will have to resort to the car tomorrow once the snow hits, will have to see what the morning brings. Already accumulating a sizeable collection of Mille parts

I've probably got pictures of bikes I've owned going back to the Jurassic period somewhere - but not on this computer...!
However I do have pics of the 4 most recent bikes I've owned, and surprisingly, 3 of them are V-twins... Ok, the first one is a bit of a fib as it's not the actual bike I own. However it did look exactly like this when I bought it secondhand back in 1992 with 600 kilometres on the clock:
I've still got it and cannot ever, EVER imagine parting with it. The next one was the aforementioned TL1000S. Helluva bike, and very handsome in British Racing Green, but the Falco has it beat all ways up. This is me having some fun at Oulton Park on it (photo is a bit pants, as it's a scan of a print):
The VFR and the Falco lolling about eying up the girls outside the gaff in France...
And lastly, the Falco enjoying the shade and the Frenchness of it all in Chartres...

As I come full circle back to Falco ownership these are the bikes inbetween
My original Falco (now of course with Willopotomas) how she looked back in the day (surprisingly she hasn't changed that much at all in the last few years)
Then the Tuono
The Panzer

I've spent 50% of my life riding motorcycles, the rest I've wasted!

Still love your old Falco Rich.
The new one looks a good basis to start on!
The GS has always intrigued me, would like to play on one for a while, and reckon it would grow on me, but as it stands now, I would rather have the Falco and the Kwack and lots of change in the bank.
P.S. Not seen the Tuono picture yet. as can't keep the link up long enough the see it. Doh.

Cheers, Howard. The 851 sticker on the Ducati's tailpiece is actually a bit of a misnomer. It's really an 888, and it's the SP3 version. Ducati stayed with 851 branding for that year, even though it was the bigger (and much more powerful) 888 SP engine. The following year for the SP4 they used 888 stickers instead.HowardQ wrote:Yeh, love the 851, and the VFR, I had an H Reg one just like that in white some years ago, was a great bike.
As for the Falco, well they're all great.
The VFR is a grand old bike. When I get on it, it's like settling into a favourite armchair. It's a bit of a wolf in sheep's clothing, as it has uprated CBR600 wheels to allow fitment of modern tyre sizes, a pair of RC30 forks on the front, an Ohlins at the rear and Brembo calipers and 320mm ventilated discs at the front. It rides like a modern bike in most respects.
I've never owned a bike that's stayed remotely standard...

Oh yeah you can keep the Italian thing but that little Yam makes me drool! Always wanted one, could never afford one, now I guess I could choose to afford one I couldn't do anything with it!
Just wait till I win the Euromillions - I'm gonna have my own bike museum!

The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
They can run good if a balance pipe is fitted between the carb inlet manifolds.HisNibbs wrote:Like the project. Used to race a 'C' I think certainly not an 'E' . Giant killers as I remember. As a tip I recollect they'll run better with the air box and hozes connected as they don't like the filters directly on the carbs like that.
