It is shiny, isn't it! :smt003 ...won't last :smt005

A close look at the swing-arm will tell you that it wasn't all dry and sunny on 1st March...

...and those tyres have only done 25 miles! :smt002

The 'strips were surprisingly (alarmingly?) small after another 100! :smt004

Just picked this up at the weekend. It's pretty much original and standard. Passed an MOT (even with the bandage) but there is a carb problem and it runs rough.

Looking forward to tinkering with it.

Goldie - very nice indeed. Bit of a change from the Falco, what's the ride like. I've never been on an R1.

There's a site DavShill might be interested in ....

http://www.vf750fd.com/vf750f/vin_1.html

I like the old Honda's ...recently sold two ST70 Monkey bikes I'd had for years :smt010 needed some £££ quick so they had to go.

I used to have a newer version of something like that until about 6 or 7 years ago -

Thanks Dave. It's ... um ... more intense!!! :smt003 Everything seems just a little bit smaller but a (little?) bit stronger, if that makes any sense? I've only done 180 miles so it's a bit early to judge, but at low (sub-4500) revs it is actually rather sluggish; I'm going to have to re-learn the art of keeping the revs above 5000. From the ride I had on the demo bike I can vouch for the fact that it is absolutely f***ing ballistic above about 6k. Don't you just love 2-strokes? :smt005 :smt017 :smt005 :smt017

...and as an added bonus, I get a side-stand that works! :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

If this is a bit too much for you, I can supply you with a Falco stand, so you can fit it to remind you of the bike you used to love! :smt003
Hope it all goes well for you mate, never tried a recent R1, did try an R6 and that was a bit too focussed for me, pretty dead below 10K, especially after the Falco, but even the R6 is bloody quick when you keep it on the boil and it does handle great. I think the R1 would be a bit too much for an old fart like me, although an occasional play would be nice!
