Where to stay and best route.
Hi, I'm planning on riding to Italy next year and looking on advise on accomadation and the best routes if any of you guys have done it. I would like to include the black forest though.

My Main advice would be to not plan to do too much riding each day, 250 miles tops - especially if you're planning to ride mostly off-motorways. The reason is that you're there to see the scenery, not blast the miles, so you'll be stopping more often, and long days in the saddle get very tiring pretty quickly, which isn't enjoyable. You want the trip to be a holiday, not a slog.

Hi Ian, let us know when you're planning on going - we have a 'project' in the South of France and if we're about you'd be very welcome to break your journey there. Mind you - it's a long way from the Black Forest, although we could rustle up a gateau...

Thanks for that, I'll keep that in mind.
I've done a fair bit of touring in Europe Ricey and tend to stick to 250 max as you said. Just wondered if anyone had done it.
