South of France - Toulon & Mandelieu-la-Napoule

#1 Post by bigjel » Fri Dec 21, 2007 6:33 pm

I can recommend 2 places having been to both over the last few years, the first is

New Hotel Tour Blanche in Toulon in the hills over looking the port, very nice, comfortable rooms, good food, possibly a little expensive but not if your sharing.

web site here http://www.new-hotel-tour-blanche-toulo ... _en_1.html

The second is Hotel Arcantis Azur in Mandelieu-la-Napoule which at some time has been used by the original fast bikes crew and other magazines alegedly, very, very friendly family run 3* on the coast not to pricey, thoughly nice atmosphere, and near to all the best roads, St Topez, Cannes, etc.

web site here http://www.europe-hotel-in.com/booking/azur.htm
I'll do slow when I'm dead :smt026

One to add to the list:

7 Rue de la Font Sucree In Cessenon sur Orb, close to Narbonne and Beziers in the South of France. The garage under the appartment can fit six bikes with ease.

Owned by Bill, an ex-pat biker and all round good egg. Bill also runs Restaurant de L'Orb just around the corner. Not cheap, but very good food from Ben, the chef (also ex-pat). Always a friendly and helpful pair, highly recommended.

Falcomille says "oui to B&B"

Ahead of our Chambre d'hote accreditation for early 2010, we are now able to provide Bed and Breakfast accomodation for the latter part of this season. What we have is a large Maison de Maitre on the edge of a small wine village in the Corbiere's region of Southern France. We have large, comfortable bedrooms, large swimming pool, private gardens and lounging areas, and most of all, secure parking (with bike facilities if needed). We are situated mid-way between Carcassonne and Narbonne, and are handily placed for the Mediterranean beaches (30 mins), Pyrenees (1.5 hrs) and Andorra (2 hrs), Viaduc de Millau (1.5 hrs) Cana du Midi (10 mins) plus some of the best roads in Europe.
Food and wine is is among the best on the planet.
If you are planning on touring Southern France or Northern Spain, and are looking for accomodation, PM me and we can discuss rates. I shall not have my website up until next year, but can let you have photos of the place. Nooj stayed here this year and Mangocrazy has visited also.

For our exact location, Google "Moux 11700 France"

Nice one, Peter; your (lovely) house would be ideal as a Chambre d'Hote.

I'd stay there!

Hopefully down in late September/ early October, although indications are that Jackie won't be able to make it, I'll be coming down in the van and it will be a working holiday. Ho hum...

Falomille, how many hairy arsed gits can you fit in at your place?
There are about 18 of us riding from Santander towards Nice in Sept.
I don't even know if we will even make it as far as you, we're about as unorganised as it's possible to be, and 18 is a bit much I admit, but it would be nice to know for future ref.

Cheers
Dave

Yes, and coming down in the van means I can repatriate what I don't drink when I'm there... :smt003

It depends on beds.. are the 18 of you couples (ie: sharing beds) or singles? We have 5 single bed and 2 double beds. I guess we are mid-way between Santander and Nice, just off the A61, and about 20 miles from the A9.
If I can help, let me know.

Phew! Thanks Dave! You might be best suited to the Formula 1 places, about 40 Euro's night for 2 beds in a room.
Catch you later.
