I spotted a really nice GEN2 mille R on a 55 plate in red that was at a dealers, I emailed them about fazer milage condition etc and got a phone call yesterday. They wanted to know all about my fazer ie service history and tax amongst other things and wanted to know what i wanted in for it. They rang me later in the day but offered me 300 quid less than i wanted.
Funny enough one of the comments to me was"THERE ARE A LOT OF FAZERS OUT THERE" to which i grinned and replied"THERE A LOT OF MILLES TOO". I decided to leave it has i am really not that bothered at getting rid of fazer and certainly not giving away.
And guess what they rang me back today and told me they would give me what i wanted in part exchange.
I decided to look on fleecebay last night and another dealer is selling an identical R same year but 1000 miles more for 400 quid less, and i think the first dealer has got some one lined up for my bike with offering me what i want for it but i now realise what i can buy for less money. So if anyone wants to down size or just doesnt like the v twin anymore and has a GEN2 around about a 55-56 plate and wants to deal on fazer then please pm me :smt006

Just in case you don't know, the first gen bikes were the Mille and the better spec (Ohlins, OZ etc) Mille R. As well as exotica like the SP of course

Confusingly with the Gen 2 bikes, the RSVR was the "ordinary" one and the RSVR Factory was the one with all the goodies (the equivalent of the first gen R spec)

Sorry if you know this anyway but thought it worth mentioning in case you didn't.

It was a strange thing for Aprilia to do, the RSV-R was the top spec model on the earlier bikes. They then retained this name for the base model with the Gen 2 bikes. A bit silly unless they wanted to make people buying the new base model think that they were getting the top spec bike. As Andy says the new top spec Gen 2 bike with the Ohlins and Oz stuff was called the Factory.

On the earlier, RSV was the normal production model.. the base model
RSVR was the middle model, (followed slightly higher specc'd by the RSVR Edwards / Haga Replicas when they were limitedly released)
The RSV SP was top model... like D-R says.. pure exotica,

..any one of them could run rings round a Ducati with the right rider.

Gen II, youve got RSV1000R, RSV1000R Factory and RSV1000R Nera. Nera being the equivalent of the previous Gen's SP.

There is one other special as well and damned if I can remember the name - was a factory factory if that makes sense - bikes were actually assembled at the race factory not at noale... I have never seen the Mille version but a friend had a tuono flavoured one - lots of CF and trick bits

The name will come to me!


Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I have looked at the mille replicas and after reading the spec, The inlets are bigger and the bikes have twin exsusts plus a few other trick bits. There is a few for sale on ebay and although i think the mille is still a stunning bike, the GEN 2 having sat on one is a lot lighter and i love the look of it even more so than the mille :smt003

A mate of mine once told me about some rare special limited edition he had found and bought for big money. It came with a limited edition build 1 of 50 ( of whatever)

I wish I paid more attention now!

Anyway the guy was based in Rugby so I never got to see it and I've lost touch.

Similar views here - I much prefer the Gen2 bikes - though I thing the Gen1 bikes are particularly ugly ..........

We do them a service by taking the OZ, Ohlins and swingarms and putting them on a far better looking bike.

Mark had an aprilia tuono Erra

2005 model, only 200 made

lots of bling, white number background decal on on tail section, bikini fairing and blue/purple wheels.

just about everything was Carbon fibre - full ohlins all round etc

he bought it not knowing what it was.... he had to sell it due to lost job....

I seem to recall when he told me about it that it was a small run of bikes to allow Aprilia to enter a race spec bike. They had to produce a number of road versions.

Im sorry those last two posts must be the most unclear And vague you have seen for a while lol
